Daya, Toby and Diana with Dilip

The dialogue “ Jango, neeyarinjo, njan pettu” from the movie ‘Rasikan’ delivered by Dilip, who gets trapped in front of a big dog, was a hit those days. At the sets at Udayamperoor for the movie ringmaster, Dilip has a set of dogs as his comrades. Although Tamil actor Anand was bitten mildly by a dog, Dilip says that he is not scared of them. He has a story to prove this love for dogs that he always had.

Dilip owned a dog for about 10 years, Bruno, a black & white Alsatian cross. He got the dog from his friend’s house in Aluva. His friend gifted him Bruno out of the 4 puppies he had. Dilip has not forgotten how he was driven away by the mother dog while he went close to take the puppy. Bruno was a smart dog who could even identify the tone changes while calling him by his name. Dilip said that in his absence, Bruno guarded his mother well at his house at Desam. Bruno was with Dilip until the release of ‘Meesamadhavan’. He says that it was a mistake taking him to a doctor for a hair losing disease. He bid adieu to the world with an injection the doctor gave him.

In the movie ‘CID Moosa’, the dog Arjun was the star. It is after a long interval that an animal-centered movie by Dilip is getting ready in the green room. Noted animal trainer Sankar, from Bollywood, trains the dogs for this movie. This movie Ringmaster by Rafi is his first independent directorial venture after the split up of the Rafi – Mecartin duo. Dilip enacts the role of a dog trainer named Prince. 3 dogs—Toby, Lisa and Diana share screen space with Dilip throughout the movie.

Out of the 3 dog stars in the movie, Daya performs the role of Lisa. Daya belongs to Sam Thomas from Ernakulam. Daya was identified by the team from a dog show conducted at Ernakulam. Toby, also a Kochiite, is of St Bernard breed. St Bernard puppies cost around Rs. 25000/-. Diana comes from Trissur. She was bought to perform in the movie, and belongs to the Golden Retriever breed.

18 dogs including small pugs act in the movie. Director Rafi points out that the cinema is not based on circus although there are a number of animals in it. It is the story of a young man who believes that animals have equal rights to live on earth as human beings. The film tries to portray the story of animal lovers with a hue of comedy. Rafi points out that the movie will be an entertainer with enough comedy scenes for the spectators to remember. The movie will be shot at Kochi, Ooty, Udumalppettu and Kollimala. An extensive array of stars including Saikumar, Vijayaraghavan, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Kalabhavan Shajon, Aju Varghese, Renjini, Keerthi Suresh and Honeyrose will be seen in the movie. The movie will be brought to the theatres by Vysakha Release during Vishu.
