Thiruvananthapuram: Two persons were killed when an ambulance caught fire while going to a hospital with a child who had consumed kerosene. The child escaped miraculously and her grandparents died in the accident. The deceased are Abdul Vahid, 70, from Kallara and wife Suharabi, 58. The accident occurred near Pazhayapantha, Kallara on Sunday morning after the oxygen cylinder in the vehicle exploded.
The duo were taking their granddaughter Asheena, daughter of their son Dileef, to a private hospital from medical college hospital after the child consumed kerosene. When the vehicle reached Pangod, the driver alighted from the vehicle and was examining it finding some faults. The cylinder exploded all of a sudden. Suharabai died on the way to hospital and Abdul Vahid on Sunday night in the hospital.
